Into the woods we go…
Hello Empowered Community,
This week has me buzzing with excitement—I’m kicking off calls with several new clients who snagged one of my 6 spots to help me earn my NBHWC coaching hours. It’s been amazing reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones who are ready to prioritize their health and wellness goals. Watching this community grow and support each other is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
As we dive into these new beginnings, I also want to chat about something many of us face this time of year: navigating changes in our routines. With winter activities ramping up, holiday travel on the horizon, and the potential chaos of hosting or visiting family, it can be tough to stay consistent with health, wellness, and fitness goals. But here’s the good news: with a little planning, prioritization, and mindset work, you can stay on track—even during the busiest seasons.
How to Successfully Prioritize Your Goals
Change doesn’t have to derail your progress. Here are some strategies to help you stay focused and adaptable as life gets hectic:
1. Have a Back-Up Plan
Life happens, and sometimes your primary plan won’t work out—but that doesn’t mean all is lost! Think ahead about what you can do if your schedule gets disrupted.
- Is there a gym or fitness class nearby when traveling?
- Can you squeeze in a 15-minute bodyweight workout in your hotel room or at home?
- Have a “Plan B” ready to go so you’re always prepared, no matter the circumstances.
2. Commit Ahead of Time
Set your intentions before the week starts. Ask yourself:
- What does your routine look like while traveling or hosting?
- Can you plan your workouts in advance and treat them as non-negotiable appointments?
- Commit to a specific number of workouts, a step goal, or simply staying active every day.
- Buy a membership, pass, class or training session. Put your money where your motivation is!
Knowing your plan ahead of time takes the guesswork out of staying consistent.
3. Set Expectations and Boundaries
Your health and wellness goals are just as important as any other priority. Communicate with friends and family about your needs, especially during holidays or visits.
- Let them know you’ll need time for your workouts, even if it’s just 30 minutes.
- Invite them to join you—it can be a fun way to bond!
And remember: you deserve your gym time. It’s self-care, not selfish.
4. Bring Your Own Healthy Dishes and Beverages
Parties and gatherings don’t have to throw off your nutrition goals. Show up prepared by bringing your own healthy dishes or beverages to share. This way, you know there will be options that align with your goals while still enjoying the celebration.
- Think lean proteins, veggie-forward sides, or a refreshing mocktail.
- Bonus: You might inspire someone else to try a healthier option!
5. Build Your Plate Well When Traveling or Hosting
Nutrition can be tricky when you’re away from home or surrounded by holiday treats, but a little strategy goes a long way:
- Protein First: Fill your plate with lean protein to stay full and energized.
- Veggies Second: Add fiber-rich vegetables to keep your digestion happy.
- Other Macros Last: Enjoy carbs and fats mindfully, without letting them dominate your plate.
This approach allows you to enjoy the festivities while still fueling your body for success.
6. Stay Connected to What Motivates You
Think about why you started this journey in the first place. What motivates you? Is it feeling strong, energized, or confident? Write it down, set a reminder on your phone, or keep a sticky note on your mirror to stay inspired.
Encouragement for the Season
Change can feel overwhelming, but it’s also an opportunity to grow. The key is to adapt while keeping your goals in sight. Whether it’s fitting in a quick workout before guests arrive, preparing nutritious meals ahead of time, or saying “no” when you need to, every small action adds up.
You’ve got this! If you need support or ideas for staying on track, reply to this email or share in our Empowered Coaching Facebook group. Let’s navigate this season together and stay committed to our goals.
Here’s to crushing it, even during the chaos!
Warmly,
Coach Christine
